Mounts
Ride big custom animals in Survival. Every mount has its own model, its own quest in the biome it really lives in, and levels up as you ride.

Mount quests
Section titled “Mount quests”Wren Halloway, the Stablemaster, gives the quests at her ranch. One quest at a time, six steps, all in the mount’s biome in Survival:
- Find the herd. Once you’re in the right biome, a Tracker’s Compass points the way.
- Bring Wren the supplies (below).
- Clear the threats: kill hostile mobs in those biomes (25 for tier 1, 30 for tier 2, 40 for tier 3).
- Earn the herd’s trust: right-click one of the herd with its food on three different days.
- Beat the Herd Alpha, a guardian of the herd (Level 18 to 34), at the herd.
- The riding trial: ride the wild one for 60 seconds without being thrown.

Riding
Section titled “Riding”/mountlists your mounts,/mount <name>calls one,/mount dismisssends it home.- W/A/S/D to move, Space to jump, Sprint to run (30% faster), Shift to get off.
- One mount out at a time. Survival only: not in the lobby, Mining, dungeons, the Spire or duels.
- You never take fall damage while riding.
- Mounts are yours alone: nobody else can ride or hurt them, and they can’t be traded.
Levels
Section titled “Levels”Mounts level from 1 to 30 as you ride (1 XP for every 4 blocks). Every level makes them 2% faster, so a level 30 mount is 58% faster than at level 1. Reaching the next level takes 200 + 60 × the current level XP.
Mounts can’t die
Section titled “Mounts can’t die”Hurt one too badly and it bolts: a puff of smoke and it’s gone, and you land on your feet. Call it again after a cooldown: 5 minutes, shrinking to 2 minutes at level 30. It comes back at full health.
Barding
Section titled “Barding”Barding is armour for your mount. It shows on the model as plate armour (netherite comes with gold trim). Buy it from Wren, one tier at a time:
| Barding | Mount level | Cost | Extra health | Damage taken |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leather | 1 | 20 Cinders | +10 | −5% |
| Copper | 5 | 40 Cinders + 2 Rift Shards | +18 | −10% |
| Iron | 10 | 80 Cinders + 5 Rift Shards | +26 | −15% |
| Gold | 15 | 120 Cinders + 8 Rift Shards | +32 | −18% |
| Diamond | 20 | 200 Cinders + 12 Rift Shards | +40 | −24% |
| Netherite | 25 | 300 Cinders + 20 Rift Shards | +50 | −30% |
Barding never changes speed; levels do.
Elytra barding: flying mounts
Section titled “Elytra barding: flying mounts”At mount level 20, Wren fits elytra barding for a plain elytra (no name or enchantments), 8 phantom membranes and 15 Rift Shards. Then press Space twice to take off and fly.
